How do I keep records with a Montessori observation sheet?
Print one sheet per area for your class and keep it on a clipboard. When you give a lesson, fill the Presented bubble beside the child's name; fill Practicing when you see them repeat it and Mastered when they have it.

How to do it
Print a sheet per area
One sheet for Practical Life, one for Sensorial, and so on, each with your class's names.
Write the children's names once
Write the names down the side on the first day; the same sheet lasts several weeks.
Fill one bubble at a time
Fill the bubble for the level you saw. Earlier bubbles stay filled, so the row shows the path.
Read across a row for a child
A row shows where one child is in the whole area.
Read down a column for a lesson
A column shows who still needs a lesson, which helps plan small-group presentations.
Questions guides ask
- What if my class is bigger than one page?
- The sheet continues on the next page with the header repeated, up to 40 children.
- Can I use the sheet for AMI and AMS?
- Yes. Choose the curriculum before printing; the lessons come from that curriculum's list.
- Can these sheets be scanned into records?
- No. These class sheets are for records kept on paper.
